Randy McSpadden

Guitar and Vocals

Randy McSpadden grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he started his lifelong quest of the guitar at the age of 6. Influenced equally by the Beatles and Bob Wills he began playing in country and rock bands as a teen. In the late 70’s after hearing Clarence White he began playing bluegrass.  On the first trip to the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas in 1981 he was able to catch a live set by the Dave Grisman Quintet which proved to be pivotal in his musical direction.

In the early 90’s he played in the Tulsa based Bluegrass Band “A Grain of Salt” performing in local and regional venues and festivals.  His bands “St Elmer’s Fire” and “From the Top” continued his quest of combining his jazz background with bluegrass and new acoustic music.

Residing in Denver, Colorado from 2011 thru 2024, he has free-lanced in both the bluegrass/ acoustic music scene as well as the vibrant jazz scene on the Front Range. He was a member of the band Silverplume and has performed with the Mark Diamond Bluegrass Blitz, Miss Amy & the Jet Set, Liz Masterson, Kantankerous, Backwoods Galaxy, The Nick Amodeo Trio, The Stanleytones, ACME Bluegrass, & many other Front Range ensembles.

In addition to performing, he teaches intermediate and advanced level guitar students privately & provides band coaching.

Anne Luna

Bass and Vocals

While “that thing’s bigger’n she is,” Anne Luna is a true presence on stage and makes playing the bass look easy. Her playing is graceful and elegant, yet precise and hard-driving with a sweet tone that enhances and complements any group she plays with. She is equally at home playing bluegrass, country, western, and even Irish traditional music and jazz.
Anne has extensive recording and performance experience having recorded on over 20 albums with a number of distinguished musicians including Alan Munde, Kenny Maines, and Amanda Shires. Most notably, as a member of The Hard Road Trio along with her longtime musical collaborators Steve Smith and Chris Sanders, Anne released 3 critically acclaimed albums between 2012 and 2019. After over 10 years of touring, playing festivals, and teaching workshops across the country with the Trio, Anne is in higher demand than ever, playing with The Southwest Bluegrass All-Stars (Bill Evans, Steve Smith, Elliott Rogers, and Luna), The Whereabouts, Hondo Coyote, The High Desert Playboys, and Mandology.
In addition to her playing, Anne is also an accomplished songwriter and vocalist. She has a clear, sparkling, soulful voice that can both cut through the mix to stand on its own and also blend smoothly with vocal work in any group. She teaches songwriting at the annual Desert Night Acoustic Songwriting Camp and her songs have been nominated for two New Mexico Music Awards.
As an accomplished and enthusiastic instructor, Anne’s energy and easy-going manner create a welcoming learning environment for students of every background and experience level.

Cindi Cone

Fiddle and Vocals

Cindi was born and raised in Connecticut and began her musical journey as a child.  With a classically-trained singer for a mom and a guitar-strumming crooner for a dad, she taught herself to sing with a clear, powerful voice, trying to emulate her idol, Cher, as well as many other singers of the 1970s.  She found her own voice and a whole new direction in music at the age of 17 when she discovered bluegrass music.  She began teaching herself to play fiddle, using her grandfather’s old fiddle, and later began lessons.  After a year, she had brought herself to a level that enabled her to attend South Plains College in Levelland, Texas and earn a degree in Bluegrass and Country Music.  There she learned how to sing bluegrass and country, and sound authentic while doing it.

Over the last 40+ years Cindi has played in many bands, finally settling in Durango, Colorado in 1995. She was one of the founding members of The Badly Bent (Durango, CO) , performing regionally in the Four Corners area. Over the years Cindi has also played and sung on numerous recording projects in Colorado and in Nashville.  In 2000, she won first place at the Rockygrass fiddle contest in Lyons, Colorado. Cindi is a regular band member in The Western Hers, and also The Dust Devils, both Albuquerque bands.  She also freelances a bit, and teaches fiddle.
